My apologies for the lack of a second 4E Sunless Citadel encounter this week. My evenings have been unusually busy this week. I felt bad about soliciting your return today and not having new content, so I put together this little poll, inspired by my article on the clash between roles and playstyles. Cast your vote then share why that role best fits your playstyle in the comments.

Leader. Cleric is one of my favorite classes, as well as Artificer. I think Leaders are some of the more versatile classes, because “Leading” is sort of added on to another role – the Cleric, Bard and Artificer are controllery for example. Not only that, but everyone can use a Leader around. I don’t subscribe to the view that certain roles have to be played certain ways to any amount of exactitude, though.

I love all the leader classes because I do feel productive when I give people bonuses or heal them, and I understand how to shift the other players to utilize maximum tactical advantage–but I have sworn off playing leader classes since the only groups I’ve been able to play 4e with just don’t understand the new combat philosophy. They all run off to separate directions, get flanked, get mad at me, and then complain endlessly about how their characters were “more versatile” in 3.5, and how that was a system that valued ingenuity.
Which is why I only play self-reliant strikers.
Strikedy-strikers all the way. I like hitting things.
